FIGHTING DRAGONS
About the PASCO Fighting Dragons
The PASCO Fighting Dragons are a pillar in the Colorado dragon boat community – we are one of the longest teams that have been competing at the annual Colorado Dragon Boat Festival and one of the most decorated teams. In 2024, we brought home a bronze medal in Division C at the Concord Pacific Dragon Boat Festival in Vancouver, Canada at our first international competition.
In addition to competitive and recreational dragon boat racing, we strive to create a culture where we foster, nourish, and fight for each other. We create a healthy, supportive environment where we can thrive and grow not only as paddlers, but as individuals. This includes volunteering at local cultural festivals, shows, and events; showing up for community, and educating the public about Filipino culture. We promote an active lifestyle being on a dragon boat team where we practice, workout together, and have fun year-round regardless if we are on the water paddling or off the water in the gym. We welcome everybody, including young people, to join our dragon boat community and learn about their culture, how to be team members, and appreciate PASCO’s cultural programming.
We open our practices to everyone within and outside of our community to learn more about this new and growing competitive sport. Come join us on the water at the Aurora Reservoir on the PASCO Fighting Dragon Boat for our weekly practices that run from April through October.
Please contact our team captain, Mark Perez, for more information on joining the PASCO Fighting Dragons.
